Why You’re Seeing Sales Tax on Your Lawn Care Service?
Starting October 1, 2025, GreenPal is required by Texas law to collect and remit sales tax on lawn care services booked through our platform.
This change applies to all Texas-based customers, and the tax is automatically calculated based on your lawn’s location.
How It Affects Your Price?
Your lawn care provider’s price hasn’t changed, but now you'll see sales tax added at checkout. Here’s an example:
Before: $35 per service
Now: $35 + sales tax (typically 6.25% to 8.25%)
New Total: $37.89 (example based on an 8.25% tax rate)
The exact tax rate depends on your city and county.
Do I Need to Do Anything?
Nope! The tax is automatically:
Calculated during checkout
Shown clearly in your invoice and receipts
Remitted to the state of Texas by GreenPal
You don’t need to calculate anything or file anything. We take care of all of it for you.
Why Is GreenPal Doing This?
Texas law (as of 2025) considers platforms like GreenPal “marketplace providers,” which means we’re responsible for collecting tax—not your lawn care professional.
For more details, you can read about it on the Texas Comptroller’s website.
